In early April, social inventories of five major steel varieties in 21 cities were 9.83 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 530,000 tons, a decrease of 5.1%. Inventories continued to decline; an increase of 3.24 million tons compared with the beginning of the year, an increase of 49.2%; a decrease of 3.25 million tons compared with the same period last year, a decrease of 24.8%. In early April, on a month-on-month basis, except for cold-rolled coils, the social inventories of the five major varieties of steel declined to varying degrees. Among them, rebar was the largest variety in reduction, and wire rod was the largest variety in decline; year-on-year, social inventories of the five major varieties of steel have declined to varying degrees.11:26

Data from the General Administration of Customs show that in March 2025, China exported 10.456 million tons of steel; from January to March, a total of 27.429 million tons of steel were exported, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%. In March, China imported 501,000 tons of steel; from January to March, the cumulative import of steel was 1.55 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11.3%. In March, China imported 93.974 million tons of iron ore and concentrates; from January to March, it imported a total of 285.312 million tons of iron ore and concentrates, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%.11:25
