On March 4, Sinopec South China Company raised the listed price of xylene by 300 yuan/ton: Guangzhou Petrochemical, Maoming Petrochemical, and Sinopec Zhongke implemented a price of 6,450 yuan/ton. In the previous trading day, domestic toluene and xylene prices surged significantly, with tightening supply driving a broad rally in the aromatics market. The market is expected to remain relatively strong during the day, though the room for further upward movement is narrowing. Under the expectation of tightening supply, prices are likely to remain high, with close attention being paid to downstream transaction activity.10:59

On Tuesday, the intensification of conflict in the Middle East pushed up international oil prices. U.S. gasoline prices surged to US$3.11 per gallon on two days, the largest one-day increase since March 2022. Oil prices are expected to continue to rise in the future, and the rise may last for several months. Shipping in the Strait of Hormuz has been blocked. JPMorgan Chase warned that if restrictions are imposed for 3-4 weeks, Brent oil prices are expected to exceed US$100/barrel. Currently, Brent is about US$80/barrel, and WTI crude oil is above US$76/barrel.10:58
