On August 17, 2026, the zinc inventory at the Shanghai Futures Exchange was 114,208 tons, an increase of 742 tons from the previous trading day. Among them, inventory in Shanghai was 19,120 tons, a decrease of 447 tons; inventory in Guangdong was 18,977 tons, unchanged; inventory in Jiangsu was 3,904 tons, an increase of 593 tons; inventory in Zhejiang was 10,331 tons, a decrease of 100 tons; inventory in Tianjin was 61,876 tons, an increase of 696 tons.

Last week, the blast furnace operating rate at 247 steel mills stood at 82.64%, an increase of 0.32 percentage points week-on-week; the capacity utilization rate of blast furnace ironmaking was 89.44%, up 0.06 percentage points week-on-week; the profitability ratio of steel mills was 33.77%, an increase of 1.74 percentage points week-on-week; and the daily average molten iron output was 2.382 million tons, an increase of 0.017 million tons week-on-week.

According to Mysteel statistics, 15 steel mills in the Southwest region have recently released information regarding maintenance and production conversion. Among them, Yuxi Xianfu plans to shut down a 1,350m³ blast furnace for maintenance for 20 days starting from August 20, which is expected to affect construction steel production by 100,000 tons.
