On September 21, the closing prices of methanol in the external disk market fell: The CFR Southeast Asia methanol market closed at 620.5-622.5 US dollars per ton. The FOB US Gulf methanol market closed at 150-152 US cents per gallon; The European FOB Rotterdam methanol market closed at 445-447 euros per ton, down 7 euros per ton.

On September 22nd, the methanol quotation of Shandong Alliance was raised by 60 yuan/ton. The terminal price is 3700 yuan/ton for ex-factory spot exchange, the trader price is 3720 yuan/ton, and the 250,000 tons/year methanol plant operates normally.11:10

Recent reasons for the increase in methanol prices: Geopolitical disturbances in the Middle East have restricted shipping in the strait, leading to a significant contraction in domestic import volume. Coupled with the centralized maintenance of multiple large-scale domestic methanol plants, domestic supply has contracted phasically. Downstream MTO and traditional chemical industries have rigid demand, but under high prices, downstream profits are under pressure, and MTO operating rate is low with limited acceptance of high prices, creating a contradictory market pattern of tight supply and weak demand.10:53
