【Non-ferrous metals】
Data on official reserve assets for April 2026, jointly released by the People's Bank of China and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, shows that China's gold reserves continue to grow. As of the end of April, total holdings reached 74.64 million ounces (approximately 2,321.56 tons), an increase of 260,000 ounces (approximately 8.09 tons) from the end of March. This marks the 18th consecutive month of net gold purchases by the central bank since it resumed buying gold in November 2024, with the April increase hitting a 16-month high.08:59

It is reported that in the second ten-day period of May, a major TDI distributor in Northern China executed a fixed price of 17,000 yuan/ton at its Northwest plant. Due to reduced unit loads and maintenance stockpiling, supply was limited to 20% during the period, with no performance assessment.08:57

On May 12, Liway Weiyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. quoted the latest price of styrene at 9,500 yuan/ton, an increase of 200 yuan/ton compared to last Saturday.08:55
【Crude oil】
A preliminary survey released on Monday indicated that U.S. crude oil inventories are expected to have fallen last week, while distillate fuel and gasoline inventories likely also declined. On average, four analysts projected that U.S. crude oil inventories would decrease by approximately 1.7 million barrels for the week ending May 8. U.S. gasoline inventories are expected to drop by 2.6 million barrels, while distillate fuel inventories, including diesel and heating oil, are forecast to fall by about 3 million barrels.08:45
