According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of eggs was 10.85 RMB/kg at the beginning of this month, and 9.11 RMB/kg at the end of this month. The price dropped 16.04%, 4.81% lower than the same period last year.
At present, the terminal demand for eggs is still weak. Until the terminal demand is substantially improved, it is difficult for the price of eggs to rebound in a trend. In December, the demand for eggs improved, boosted by the demand of New Year's Day and Spring Festival. As terminal demand is still weak, it is expected that demand will have a weak supporting effect on egg prices before New Year's Day this year.
The number of laying hens on hand was relatively stable, and the supply of eggs continued to operate at a relatively low level, which continued to form a positive support for egg prices. In December, there was a significant decline in the willingness to supplement the breeding stock. The data on the utilization rate of breeding eggs fell for two consecutive weeks on a month on month basis. The amount of supplement at the breeding end decreased compared with the previous period, and the demand for chicken seedlings was weak. The enthusiasm of the breeding units to eliminate the old chickens has been improved partly, and some are still ordinary. However, due to the low operating rate of the downstream slaughterhouses and the limited acquisition volume, the actual turnover has decreased slightly, and the price of the eliminated chickens has continued to decline.
Before the substantial improvement of the demand side, it is very difficult for egg prices to have a trend rebound. It is expected that egg prices will have a limited rebound space before New Year's Day. In the future, we will focus on the impact of demand recovery progress on egg prices.
