SunSirs: Sales Increases, China Egg Price Increases
January 16 2023 14:21:51SunSirs(Selena)

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the egg price was 9.49 RMB/kg at the beginning of last week and 9.66 RMB/kg at the end of last week. The price increased by 1.79% and 3.98% compared with the same period last year.

With the passing of the first wave of infection peak, the downstream construction began to return to normal one after another. As the Spring Festival approaches, the breeding units have a high enthusiasm to eliminate old chickens, and the number of eliminated chickens has increased in the market or on a month-to-month basis. In terms of supply, the number of newly opened laying hens has increased slightly, and the number of eliminated chickens has also increased. The overall inventory has maintained a low level, and the supply of eggs is still tight. In terms of demand, driven by the demand for stocking before the Spring Festival, egg prices are still likely to rise, but the upward space is limited.

In December 2022, the national stock of laying hens was about 1.179 billion, a decrease of 0.17%, a year-on-year increase of 2.52%, and a decrease of 4.86% compared with the average in the past five years. Newly-launched laying hens are mainly concerned about the chicks to be farmed around August 2022. Encouraged by the rise in egg prices, the enthusiasm of breeding units to be farmed has slightly improved.

The demand peak season for the Spring Festival is approaching, and the terminal market may have a short period of centralized stock in mid-January. At that time, the egg price may have a certain bottom support. It is expected that the egg price will move up in the short term with a strong trend in China.
