SunSirs: Terminal Production Resumed and Ethylene Oxide Recovered strongly
February 23 2023 09:44:09SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the data of SunSirs, the average price of domestic ethylene oxide spot market on February 22, 2023 was 6,800 RMB/ton, up 7.94% from the price of 6,300 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month.

Analysis review

On the whole, the resumption of terminal production and the improvement of downstream demand were the main reasons for the stronger price of ethylene oxide.

On the supply side, ethylene oxide production capacity was relatively stable, the price of raw material ethylene had little change, and the support was limited.

On the demand side, after the Spring Festival, especially after the terminal real estate stared to warm up, the demand for polycarboxylic acid water-reducing agent monomer in the main downstream was expected to be large, the production enthusiasm of polycarboxylic acid water-reducing agent monomer enterprises was increased, and the purchasing atmosphere for ethylene oxide was improved. In the early stage, when the fundamentals of ethylene oxide were weak, ethylene oxide manufacturers and holding traders began to increase their prices.

Market outlook

The price of raw material ethylene was relatively stable, the terminal demand was improved, the downstream demand was increased, the market of the main downstream polycarboxylic acid water-reducing agent monomer was improved, and the demand for ethylene oxide was expected to improve. In the early stage, the price of ethylene oxide fell, and the price was low. There was some room for rebound. It is expected that the price of ethylene oxide will continue to be volatile and stronger in the short term.
