On April 16th, foreign media reported that Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) stated that Peru's copper production in February 2023 was 192334 tons, an increase of 11.6% from 172335 tons in February 2022. MINEM stated that this is mainly due to the increase in production by major local copper mining companies, with Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde's production increasing by 3.9% year-on-year, Southern Copper Peru's production increasing by 2.3% year-on-year, and Minera Chinalco Per ú's production increasing by 15.8% year-on-year.
In terms of the company's production, Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde's production share reached 19.1%, Antamina's share was 16.4%, and Southern Copper Peru's share was 14.6%. In terms of regional shares, Arequipa's share in Peru's total copper production is 19.2%, the Ankash region's share is 16.7%, and the Mocqua region's production share is 15.6%.
