Price trend

According to the monitoring of the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, after the May Day holiday, the prices of waste paper in Zhejiang region first increased and then decreased, but it was still on the rise overall. On May 12th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow cardboard in Zhejiang Province was 1,626 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.37% compared to the average price of 1,604 RMB/ton on May 1st.

The price of corrugated paper continued to fluctuate. On May 12th, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated base paper was 2,856 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.21% compared to the average price of 2,850 RMB/ton on May 1st.

Analysis review

By observing market changes, it can be seen that domestic waste paper prices showed a trend of first rising and then falling after the holiday. With the end of the holiday, the operating situation of paper mills rebounded, leading to an increase in demand for waste paper. Paper mills had raised the purchase price of waste paper one after another. But after the paper mill had sufficient inventory of waste paper, the prices of waste paper in the paper mill began to decrease gradually.

In terms of the price of corrugated base paper, the price of corrugated paper fluctuated after the holiday. As of the 12th, the paper market had fluctuated, with prices of different types of paper and different regions experiencing fluctuations. Overall, the downstream terminal consumer demand had not fully recovered yet, but due to the shutdown and inventory reduction of paper companies and the rise in paper prices in some regions, the prices of corrugated paper were mostly stronger.

Market outlook

Paper analysts from SunSirs believe that the recent arrival of the mid year electricity sales festival has brought a positive trend to the paper market. However, whether the prices of waste paper and corrugated paper can increase on a large scale depends on whether market demand can provide favorable support. It is expected that in the short term, the prices of waste paper and corrugated paper will mainly fluctuate and be sorted out.
