Consulting firm AgRural stated on Monday that Brazil's total corn production for 2022/23 is expected to reach 127.4 million tons, higher than the April forecast of 125.1 million tons.
As of last Thursday, the progress of second season corn harvest in the central and southern regions of Brazil was 0.8%, slightly lower than the 1.2% in the same period last year. The harvest work is concentrated in Mato Grosso, the No. 1 production area.
AgRual stated that a new production forecast will be made in the second half of June.
As a reference, on May 11th CONAB, the Brazilian national commodity supply company, raised its corn production forecast for 2022/23 to a record high of 125.5 million tons, higher than last month's forecast of 124.88 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 11%. The second season corn production is expected to be 96.1 million tons, higher than the previous month's forecast of 95.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12%.
