Analysis review
This week, the downstream resin market was weak. Resin manufacturers had poor shipments, market supply was sufficient, inventory levels were high, and replenishment capacity for maleic anhydride was limited. The international crude oil market was fluctuating and rising, with the raw material n-butane market being sorted out, and there was no significant improvement in the terminal market. The maleic anhydride market was mainly sorted out. As of July 9, the solid anhydride in Shandong was about 5,700 RMB/ton, that in Jiangsu was about 5,700 RMB/ton, and that in South China was about 6,200 RMB/ton.
On the upstream side, the price of pure benzene had slightly increased this week. On July 3rd, the price of pure benzene was 6,203 RMB/ton, and on July 9th, the price of pure benzene was 6,260 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.34%. The ex factory price of hydrogenated benzene in North China rose slightly. On July 3, the price of hydrogenated benzene was 6,100 RMB/ton, and on July 9, the price was 6,243 RMB/ton, up 2.35%. This week's regular butane market was sorted out, and as of July 9th, the price in Shandong was around 4,300 RMB/ton.
Market outlook
SunSirs maleic anhydride product analysts believe that the upstream n-butane market of maleic anhydride was sorted out this week, and the downstream resin market was weak. However, over the weekend, prices of maleic anhydride in major Shandong factories increased, and factories mainly executed preliminary orders, without any pressure to sell. It is expected that the maleic anhydride market may rise in the near future.
