SunSirs: During the Hot Off-season of the Textile Industry, the Price of Spandex Slightly Declined
July 18 2023 13:52:23SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the domestic spandex market price slightly declined in July. As of July 16th, the average market price for 40D was 33,500 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.37% compared to the beginning of the month. The raw materials were strong, and the downstream demand in off-season was insufficient, putting pressure on the trend of spandex.

Analysis review

The domestic pure MDI market was stable with strong support, the supply of goods was limited, and delivery cycles was slow; The overall operating rate of the PTMEG industry was around 68%, and the shutdown and load reduction of domestic factories and devices were significant. Among them, the load of two sets of 30,000 ton/year PTMEG devices in Henan Nenghua was around 60%, the load of the 130,000 ton/year device in Jiaxing Xiaoxing, Zhejiang was around 70-80%, and the load of the 46,000 ton/year device in Yanchang Petroleum was 40%. Mainstream factories quoted 1800 molecular weight at 19,500 RMB/ton, and some factories did not quote externally.

Recently, with the increasingly hot weather, many places had issued power rationing notices, and some downstream weaving enterprises had started to reduce their load. As of July 16th, most weaving manufacturers mainly produced winter warm fabric inventory, but the actual situation of new orders was not good, and most orders were mainly delayed orders in the early stage. The price of spandex slightly increased in June, boosting the enthusiasm for downstream raw material stocking. However, the actual demand side support was limited, and the enthusiasm for trading in the market in July had significantly decreased, leading to a decrease in enthusiasm for raw material procurement.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that as of July 16th, cost support was still acceptable. However, due to the impact of the high temperature off-season in July and August, textile companies have increased production stoppages and reductions, and the demand for spandex will continue to weaken. Overall, the spandex market price may remain volatile and weaker.
