Price trend

According to the monitoring system of SunSirs, the price of flake caustic soda increased overall in July. At the beginning of the month, the average market price was around 3,162.5 RMB/ton, while at the end of the month, the average market price was 3,250 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 2.77%, and a decrease of 27.78% compared to the same period last year. The domestic flake caustic soda market was on the rise. The mainstream quotation in the Shandong region was around 3,100-3,200 RMB/ton, while the mainstream quotation in the Inner Mongolia region was around 2,800-3,000 RMB/ton.

Upstream caustic soda

According to monitoring data from SunSirs, the overall price of caustic soda decreased in July. The average price of Shandong market at the beginning of the month was 792 RMB/ton, and the average price of Shandong market at the end of the month was about 737.4 RMB/ton. The overall price fell 6.89%, and 32.6% lower than the same period last year. The price of caustic soda was weaker, and the supply of caustic soda enterprises was still sufficient. There was no positive support from exports, and downstream alumina also lacked positive support. The supply and demand game continued to be sluggish overall, and it is expected that it will continue to operate in a weak consolidation situation in the later stage.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that the prices of flake caustic soda in the market were improving recently, and the trading atmosphere in the market was still acceptable. The main reason was that the increase in the price of Inner Mongolia flake caustic soda and the decrease in supply had brought positive market confidence. Overall, the price of caustic soda may improve in the short term, depending on downstream market demand.
