According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of domestic sodium metabisulfite hit a bottom and rebounded this week. The average price of industrial grade sodium metabisulfite at the beginning of the week was 1,866.67 RMB/ton, and the average price at the weekend was 1,933.33 RMB/ton, with a weekly increase of 3.57%.

Analysis review

Supported by the continuous increase in raw material costs, in August, manufacturers hadsuccessively raised factory prices, driving the domestic industrial grade sodium metabisulfite market price to bottom out at the beginning of the month. This week, the domestic industrial grade sodium metabisulfite range was 1,850-2,300 RMB/ton, with most prices concentrated around 1,900-2,000 RMB/ton.

In July, the price of domestic soda ash increased by 5.1%, while the price of sulfur increased by 18.69%. The rising cost of raw materials provided strong support for the bottoming out of domestic sodium pyrosulfite. As of August 4th, the price of soda ash continued to rise, rising by 2.23% during the month. Sulfur prices were stronger, rising by 3.91% during the month. The continued increase in raw material costs will further support the market price of sodium metabisulfite in the future.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that under the dual support of cost and demand, there is still some room for price increase in the domestic sodium metabisulfite market in the short term.
