According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the prices of waste paper in Zhejiang region have remained stable and fluctuated slightly last week. On August 25th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow cardboard in Zhejiang Province was 1,506 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.13% compared to the average price of 1,508 RMB/ton on August 20th. The price of corrugated paper has shown an upward trend. On August 25th, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated base paper was 2,690 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.89% compared to the average price of 2,640 RMB/ton on August 20th.
By observing market changes, it can be seen that last week the domestic waste paper market has seen both gains and losses. Paper companies are more flexible in adjusting prices according to their own situation, and the market is stabilizing. The Zhejiang region continued to remain stable after a slight decline at the beginning of the week. At present, the overall trend of the waste paper market is showing a rebound trend, with the recycling volume of packaging stations maintaining stability. The demand for downstream corrugated paper market has rebounded compared to the previous period, and the domestic waste market has shown slight signs of upward trend. However, the overall recovery is very limited, and the prices of waste paper in most paper mills remain unchanged. It is expected that there will be changes in demand in the future.
Corrugated base paper prices have rebounded and risen last week, with leading companies in the current corrugated paper market leading the way up, followed by second and third tier paper mills. On the supply side, as the maintenance of the corrugated paper section begins to end, the paper companies have slightly resumed their operations. On the demand side, the terminal consumption market is basically stable, while downstream purchases remain basically in demand. However, the upcoming peak season in the later stage also boosted the market slightly.
Paper analysts from SunSirs believe that the packaging paper market is currently in a transitional period from weak to strong, and waste paper is expected to benefit market prices. Corrugated paper manufacturers are generally optimistic about the future market, with a small cost correction supporting price increases. It is expected that the prices of waste paper and corrugated base paper may be stronger in the short term.
