SunSirs: The Price of Wastepaper and Corrugated Paper is on the Rise, or Short Term relatively Stable and Strong
September 18 2023 11:24:29SunSirs(Selena)

According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the prices of waste paper in Zhejiang region remained stable and upward last week. On September 15th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow cardboard in Zhejiang Province was 1,540 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.52% compared to the average price of 1,532 RMB/ton on September 10th. The price of corrugated paper continues to rise. On September 15th, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated base paper was 2,776 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.91% compared to the average price of 2,724 RMB/ton on September 10th.

By observing market changes, it can be seen that the domestic waste paper market remained stable and experienced minor fluctuations last week. Paper companies often adjusted prices flexibly based on their own situation, and the prices of waste paper in Zhejiang region showed a slight increase. Recently, with the continuous increase in downstream raw paper prices, the sentiment in the waste paper market has been improving, with prices slightly rising. However, due to a slight increase in the inventory of waste paper in the paper mill compared to the previous period, the paper mill mostly purchases according to demand, and the price changes are relatively flat.

The price of corrugated base paper continued to rise this week, and the current price increase of corrugated paper is still advancing. With the continuous news of rising prices from leading paper mills, domestic second and third tier paper mills have followed suit by increasing the price of corrugated paper. In addition, driven by the peak season market atmosphere, the prices of domestic raw paper continue to rise, making the paper trade market atmosphere better. Downstream packaging factories have low inventory of raw paper and have some space for restocking, so the strong operation may continue.

According to paper analysts from SunSirs, the current peak sales season in the paper industry has affected the performance of both supply and demand in the market. Some paper mills have also experienced price increases due to increased production costs, and it is expected that the prices of waste paper and corrugated base paper may remain stable in the short term and tend to be stronger.
