After more than 40 years of reform and opening up, the sericulture industry in Shiquan has made significant progress, with its industrial scale ranking first in the city, the province, and the five northwestern provinces for fourteen consecutive years. The total area of mulberry orchards in the county is 76000 mu (including 50000 mu of high-quality mulberry orchards), with nearly 10000 sericulture farmers. In 2022, the county produced 72919 sericulture seeds and 3318 tons of cocoons, achieving a total output value of 1.8 billion RMB in the sericulture industry and directly or indirectly driving an increase of 8300 RMB in per capita income for the masses.

We have 19 cocoon silk and by-product processing enterprises, as well as 4 provincial and municipal leading enterprises; Shiquan silk and Shiquan mulberry cocoon have obtained national landmark products, and Shiquan silk has been selected for the protection list of the China Europe Geographical Indication Agreement.
