March 05 2024 14:19:17SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of bromine had been weak this week. At the beginning of the week, the average market price was 22,400 RMB/ton, while on the weekend, the average market price was 22,200 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.89% and a year-on-year decrease of 2.52%.

On March 1st, the bromine commodity index was 77.89 points, unchanged from the previous day, a decrease of 68.23% from the highest point in the cycle of 245.18 points (2021-10-27), and an increase of 32.20% from the lowest point of 58.92 points on October 29th, 2014. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1st, 2011 to present)

Analysis review

This week, the price of bromine was in a weak trend, with mainstream quotes in the Shandong market of around 21,500-23,000 RMB/ton, and market prices were consolidating horizontally. All bromine manufacturers had resumed production, supplemented by imported bromine, and the market supply was relatively sufficient. The downstream flame retardant and intermediate industries were still mainly purchasing on demand recently, and the transaction situation was average, with a strong wait-and-see attitude.

In terms of raw materials, domestic sulfur prices had been consolidating this week, with an average market price of 1,020 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 1,026.67 RMB/ton over the weekend, with a price increase of 0.65% and a year-on-year decrease of 8.88%. This week, the overall price of raw sulfur had stabilized.

Market outlook

The price of bromine had been fluctuating recently, while the upstream sulfur price had been consolidating. The supply of bromine had slightly decreased recently, and the downstream flame retardant and intermediate industries of bromine were still mainly purchasing according to demand recently, with moderate replenishment of inventory. There was no positive support, and it is expected that the short-term bromine price will be consolidating, depending on the downstream market demand.
