According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of waste paper in Zhejiang Province stopped rising and fell last week. On April 26th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow cardboard in Zhejiang Province was 1484 RMB/ton, a decrease of 1.07% compared to the average price of 1,500 RMB/ton on April 21st. The price of corrugated paper has fallen again. On April 26th, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated base paper was 2684 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.59% compared to the average price of 2,700 RMB/ton on April 21st.
By observing market changes, it can be seen that the prices of waste paper in Zhejiang region showed a downward trend last week, and the prices of waste paper in other regions of China have also stopped rising and falling. The current overall increase in the arrival volume of waste yellow cardboard in paper mills has led to a decrease in the purchase price of waste yellow cardboard. In terms of demand, due to slight fluctuations in the operating load rate of paper mills, coupled with limited overall improvement in finished paper sales, the recovery of interest in demand for waste yellow board paper by paper mills is weak.
The corrugated base paper market has not changed its trading fatigue, and paper prices are weak and moving downwards. On the supply side, the performance is stable, and the imbalance between supply and demand is prominent. The inventory pressure of upstream paper mills is at a high level. In March, the import volume of corrugated paper increased by 12.92% year-on-year, and the import volume continued to increase, making the supply side relatively loose. However, the performance of terminal market orders is weak, with insufficient market orders and intensified industry competition. Against the backdrop of insufficient follow-up on new orders from downstream, their willingness to replenish inventory is not strong, leading to inventory pressure on upstream paper mills and price declines.
According to paper analysts from SunSirs, as the May Day holiday approaches, the arrival volume of waste paper from paper mills may be low due to transportation issues. However, after the holiday, domestic consumption generates waste paper, and supply may increase, leading to an increase in the arrival volume of waste yellow board paper from paper mills. The demand for corrugated paper terminals is difficult to have a significant increase, and downstream packaging factories are generally in a cautious and wait-and-see attitude. It is expected that the prices of waste paper and corrugated paper will remain weak and stable in the short term.
