SunSirs: Natural Rubber Production in Malaysia Increased by 3.7% Year on Year in the First Quarter of 2024

Qinrex according to the Malaysian Bureau of statistics on May 13, the export volume of natural rubber in March 2024 increased by 28.8% year-on-year to 58,965 tons, an increase of 7% month on month. Among them, 48.9% were exported to China, followed by 9.3% from Germany, 9.2% from the United Arab Emirates, 6.9% from India, and 4.5% from Pakistan.

In March, Malaysia's natural rubber import volume was 94,493 tons, down 3.4% year-on-year and 29.7% month on month. Standard rubber, concentrated latex and natural rubber of other shapes are the main import categories, and their main import source countries are Thailand, C ô te d'Ivoire, the Philippines, Myanmar, etc.

The total output of natural rubber monitored in March was 26,966 tons, down 0.8% year-on-year and 9.2% month on month. The output of small plantations accounted for 88.5%, and the output of state-owned plantations accounted for 11.5%.

Malaysia's natural rubber inventory in March was 222,455 tons, down 3.3% month on month and up 9.2% year on year. Among them, 92.4% of the inventory was concentrated in the hands of rubber processors, 7.5% in the downstream terminal inventory, and 0.1% in the main inventory of large plantations.

In March, the total consumption of natural rubber in China fell by 9.8% year-on-year to 24,347 tons, an increase of 0.4% month on month. Latex gloves industry is still the main force of natural rubber consumption in Malaysia, accounting for 59%, tires and rubber hoses accounted for 10.3%, rubber threads accounted for 12.1%, and other industries accounted for 18.6%.

According to the data of the first quarter of 2024, compared with 93,956 tons in the fourth quarter of 2023, the production of natural rubber decreased by 7.5% to 86,944 tons. This is an increase of 3.7% from 83,848 tons in the first quarter of 2023.
