According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of sodium bicarbonate had been consolidating this week, with an average market price of 2,384 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 2,364 RMB/ton at the end of the week, the price decreased by 0.84%, and the  price had increased by 16.74% year-on-year.

On May 23, the sodium bicarbonate commodity index was 156.90 points, unchanged from the previous day, a decrease of 33.47% from the highest point in the cycle of 235.84 points (2021-11-10), and an increase of 77.75% from the lowest point of 88.27 points on December 22, 2020. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1, 2020 to present)

Analysis review

According to the Commodity Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of sodium bicarbonate was consolidating and the company's shipment was still acceptable. As of May 24th, the price of sodium bicarbonate in China was consolidating, with a mainstream market quotation of around 1,900-2,400 RMB/ton.

Upstream: According to the commodity analysis system of SunSirs, the price of soda ash was relatively stronger this week. The average market price at the beginning of the week was 2,090 RMB/ton, and the average market price over the weekend was 2,130 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 1.91% and a decrease of 10.88% compared to the same period last year. The price of soda ash in central China was stable, with a mainstream market price of around 2,000-2,200 RMB/ton for light soda ash. The price of soda ash in eastern China was stable, with a mainstream market price of around 2,100-2,250 RMB/ton for light soda ash.

Market outlook

According to analysts from SunSirs, the price of sodium bicarbonate had recently stabilized and the upstream raw material, soda ash, had remained stronger. Downstream pharmaceutical, textile, food, and other sectors of sodium bicarbonate had recently made more on-demand purchases, and there was a supply-demand game. Overall, it is expected that sodium bicarbonate prices will mainly fluctuate in the future, depending on downstream market demand.
