SunSirs: Market Stocking Starts, Egg Prices are Rising in China
May 31 2024 14:27:43SunSirs(Selena)

According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of eggs at the beginning of this month was 6.91 RMB/kg, and at the end of this month, the price of eggs was 8.21 RMB/kg, with a price increase of 19.68%.

In May, the market stocking was active, and downstream restocking drove market consumption, resulting in consumption exceeding expectations. In addition, as the southern region enters the rainy season, many areas are experiencing continuous heavy rainfall. Part of the egg chicken farmers in the south have suffered losses. Secondly, under the influence of international trade, the prices of feed raw materials such as corn and soybean meal have rebounded. Due to cost support, egg prices have risen, and wheat producing areas have entered the busy season of summer. Farmers have increased their willingness to purchase eggs.

In April, the national inventory of laying hens was about 1.187 billion, a month on month increase of 0.34% and a year-on-year increase of 7.3%. In terms of inventory structure, the number of new laying hens opened in April increased by 0.8% month on month, while the proportion of old chickens waiting to be eliminated decreased by 0.11% month on month. The willingness of farmers to eliminate laying hens has decreased. The number of eliminated laying hens has been continuously decreasing, and the production capacity of laying hens is currently expanding.

The egg market has entered a stocking cycle, and it is expected that in the short term, egg prices may exhibit a strong trend of volatility.
