SunSirs: China SBR Market is on the Rise
June 03 2024 14:55:12SunSirs(Selena)

Recently (5.22-5.31), the market for SBR has risen. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of May 31, the price of SBR in the East China market was 14,000 RMB/ton, an increase of 3.19% from 13,566 RMB/ton on May 22. The price of raw material butadiene has significantly increased, while the price of styrene has slightly increased, and the cost center of SBR has shifted upwards. Downstream production of all steel tires has slightly decreased, providing rigid support for SBR; The production of SBR is at a low level, and there is not much pressure on enterprise inventory. The factory price of SBR has gradually increased, and merchant quotations have followed suit. As of the 31st, the mainstream market price of 1502 SBR in Fushun, Jihua, Yangzi, and Qilu in East China is around 13,800-14,300 RMB/ton.

Recently (5.22-5.31), the raw material butadiene has significantly increased, and the price of styrene has slightly increased, providing strong cost support for SBR. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of May 31st, the price of butadiene was 11,875 RMB/ton, an increase of 7.10% from 11,087 RMB/ton on May 22nd; As of May 31st, the price of styrene was 9,683 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.78% from 9,608 RMB/ton on May 22nd.

Supply and demand side: In the recent period (5.22-5.31), downstream tire production has slightly declined, providing support for the rigid demand for SBR. It is understood that as of late May, the operating load of semi steel tires in domestic tire enterprises was around 79%; The operating load of all steel tires in Shandong tire enterprises has slightly decreased to 65%.

Market forecast: From a fundamental perspective, analysts from SunSirs believe that the high prices of raw materials such as butadiene and styrene are supported by the cost of SBR; The production of SBR is at a low level, and the pressure on the supply side of SBR is not high; The current downstream tire production is basically stable, providing strong support for the demand for SBR. Overall, the SBR market may consolidate at a high level in the later stage.
