SunSirs: Corrugated Paper Prices are Running steadily, with Short-term Weak Stability
July 12 2024 10:22:53SunSirs(Selena)

According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of corrugated paper has remained stable this week. On July 11th, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated paper was 2,610 RMB/ton, which remained stable compared to the average price on July 7th.

In terms of upstream raw materials, the price of waste paper in Zhejiang region remained stable this week, while the price of waste paper nationwide fluctuated. On July 11th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow cardboard in Zhejiang Province was 1,466 RMB/ton, which remained stable compared to the average price on July 7th. As the rainy season in the south is coming to an end, the recycling of waste paper will gradually resume. Therefore, paper mills are basically in a wait-and-see situation, and some paper mills have lowered prices due to the high inventory of waste paper.

Supply side: The current corrugated paper market has stable supply, with average shipments and order volumes from leading paper companies. During the off-season, the market receives fewer orders, and paper mills consume inventory slowly. However, most paper companies have inventory levels at medium to high levels, and market supply remains relatively flat. In addition, due to the fluctuating policies of large-scale paper mills and the mainstream stability maintenance in other regions, the overall market trading is lukewarm.

In terms of demand, downstream packaging factories have limited orders and relatively low procurement, resulting in insufficient confidence in the market's future trend. Therefore, the main focus of raw paper procurement should be on meeting demand. Downstream customers lack confidence in market transactions and are not proactive in stocking up on orders, resulting in low new transactions for paper companies and a sluggish market.

The paper analyst of SunSirs believes that due to various factors such as the bleak market situation, low downstream orders, and high inventory pressure of paper companies, the current market sentiment towards external quotations is weak, and industry players are still in a wait-and-see attitude. It is expected that the price of corrugated paper may remain weak and stable in the short term.
