According to data from SunSirs, the price of seamless tubes had slightly decreased this week. As of the weekend, the price of 20#, 108 * 4.5 seamless tubes was quoted at 4,492.5 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.55% from the beginning of the week and a year-on-year decrease of 3.54%.

Analysis review

This week, steel mills' prices for tube blanks had dropped. The factory quotation for 20# hot-rolled tube billets was 3,560-4,070 RMB/ton, a decrease of 10-50 RMB/ton.

Recently, the sustained high temperatures in the south had led to a reduction in outdoor projects and a significant decrease in demand. In addition, the slight decrease in overall steel production had weakened the support for raw material prices, and market sentiment was mainly wait-and-see. In the past two weeks, the price of tube blanks had continued to run weakly, with the decline in finished product prices far lower than the decline in tube blank raw material prices. The profit of tube factories was still acceptable, and the market sentiment was weak. Tube factories may lower their factory prices.
