SunSirs: China Corrugated Paper Prices Rise, and the Market is Stable and Rising in the Short Term

August 16 2024 10:18:10SunSirs(Selena)

According to the monitoring of the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of corrugated paper continued to rise slightly this week. On August 15th, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated paper was 2,606 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.08% compared to the average price of 2,604 RMB/ton on August 11th.

In terms of upstream raw materials: The price of waste paper in Zhejiang region has shown an increase this week, and the purchase price of waste paper in many regions across the country has also increased. On August 11th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow cardboard in Zhejiang Province was 1,517 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.61% compared to the average price on August 11th. Recently, the Mid Autumn Festival stocking season has gradually entered, and paper mills have expressed an intention to increase their reserves of waste paper. Some paper mills have increased their plans to purchase waste yellow cardboard, which has led to an upward trend in the price of the main raw material, waste yellow cardboard.

In terms of supply: Currently, most paper mills are operating normally, and there is sufficient supply of spot goods. Recently, multiple large-scale paper mills have continued to release plans for price increases in the later stage. Although the market sentiment is relatively bullish, most small and medium-sized paper mills remain stable and wait, and the market transaction range has not changed much, with only a slight increase in prices.

In terms of demand: With the arrival of the Mid Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, there is a positive expectation for demand side inventory. With the rise of paper mills, some downstream packaging factories may supplement their inventory appropriately, which provides some support for paper prices on the demand side.

The paper analyst of SunSirs believes that the current domestic waste paper prices have risen significantly. Paper mills have a strong intention to increase prices in order to alleviate their own cost pressure. In addition, large-scale paper mills still have price increase plans, and it is expected that the price of corrugated paper will remain stable and rise in the short term.
