SunSirs: The Propylene Oxide Market Experienced a Slight Decline (August 12-16)
August 19 2024 09:58:06SunSirs(John)

Price trend

Recently, the propylene oxide market has slightly weakened. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of August 16th, the benchmark price of SunSirs' propylene oxide was 8,870.00 RMB/ton, a decrease of 1.17% compared to the beginning of this month (8,975.00 RMB/ton).

Price influencing factors:

On the raw material side: Recently, the prices of propylene in the market have fallen first and then risen, and the liquid chlorine market has also fallen first and then risen. The fluctuations in the prices of the two raw materials were basically the same, maintaining a range oscillation operation. Overall, it had little impact on propylene oxide, and the cost support for the propylene oxide market was still fair. According to the market analysis system of SunSirs, as of August 16th, the benchmark price of propylene in SunSirs was 6,873.25 RMB/ton, a decrease of 2.96% compared to the beginning of this month (7,083.25 RMB/ton).

Downstream demand side: The supply side was mainly focused on stability, inventory pressure was controllable, downstream wait-and-see sentiment was strong, on-demand procurement was the main focus, buying up instead of buying down, procurement follow-up was insufficient, market atmosphere was weak, and the market trend was falling.

Market outlook

SunSirs' propylene oxide analyst believes that the cost support was still acceptable, with average follow-up of downstream new orders and a focus on transaction demand. It is expected that in the short term, the propylene oxide market will mainly operate weakly and steadily, and more attention still needs to be paid to changes in raw material prices.
