Price trend

According to data from SunSirs, the price of seamless tubes has slightly decreased this week. As of the weekend, the price of 20#, 108 * 4.5 seamless tubes was quoted at 4,325 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.69% from the beginning of the week and a year-on-year decrease of 7.73%.

Analysis review

This week, steel mills' prices for tube blanks had dropped. The factory price for 20# hot-rolled tube billets was 3,130-3,900 RMB/ton, a decrease of 30-50 RMB/ton.

 The price of raw material billets had significantly decreased, and the immediate profit of the tube factory had rebounded. The current profit had declined, but the price drop caused downstream concerns about further price declines. The market delivery plan was insufficient, and the standing inventory of traders decreased. The tube factory accumulated inventory, and there was a possibility of further lowering the factory price. The decline in trader quotes was less than that of the tube factory, and the quotes were slightly weak.

Market outlook

Under the influence of weak demand during the off-season and continued weakness in futures, it is expected that seamless tube prices will mainly consolidate to be weaker.
