SunSirs: The Added Value of China's Automobile Industry Increased 7.9% Year-on-year in the First Three Quarters of 2024
October 25 2024 14:27:11SunSirs(Selena)

On October 23rd, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the development of industry and information technology in the first three quarters of 2024. Zhao Zhiguo, spokesperson and chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced at the meeting that the overall operation of China's automobile industry was good in the first three quarters. The added value of the automobile industry increased by 7.9% year-on-year, with production and sales of 21.47 million and 21.571 million vehicles respectively, an increase of 1.9% and 2.4% year-on-year, and a cumulative export of 4.312 million vehicles, an increase of 27.3% year-on-year.

Zhao Zhiguo stated that overall, the automotive industry has maintained stable growth. From January to August, the operating revenue and total profit of the automotive industry increased by 3.2% and 3% year-on-year, respectively. From the perspective of the new energy vehicle industry, the development trend is good. In the first three quarters, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 8.316 million and 8.32 million respectively, an increase of 31.7% and 32.5% year-on-year. In the past three months, the sales proportion of new energy passenger vehicles has been above 50%, achieving new breakthroughs. The export of new energy vehicles reached 928,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 12.5%.

However, it should also be noted that the operation of the automotive industry still faces challenges such as insufficient domestic effective demand and increasing uncertainty and instability in overseas exports. Zhao Zhiguo stated that in the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will work with relevant departments to increase policy support and promote high-quality development of the industry.

One is to take multiple measures to expand automobile consumption. Implement policies to promote consumption, such as trade in of old cars, vehicle purchase tax, and vehicle and vessel tax incentives, continue to carry out rural activities for new energy vehicles, launch a new batch of pilot projects for comprehensive electrification of public sector vehicles, study and formulate guidance on new energy vehicle battery swapping models, and actively expand automobile consumption.

The second is to optimize the management policies for automobile production access. Promote the promulgation of the "Regulations on the Administration of Access to Motor Vehicle Production", improve the dynamic management mechanism of "entry and exit", pilot self inspection of road motor vehicle product access, and further stimulate the vitality of business entities. Explore the implementation of enterprise group management, support enterprises to improve quality and efficiency, and strive for excellence and strength. Guide enterprises to focus on the long-term, strengthen technological upgrading, product iteration, and model innovation, continuously enhance core competitiveness, and create a good industrial development ecology.

The third is to support the development of technological innovation. Through channels such as high-quality development projects and national key research and development plans, we will continue to promote key technologies such as power battery materials and automotive chips. We will deepen the pilot program for the admission and on road access of intelligent connected vehicles, as well as the pilot program for "vehicle road cloud integration", and steadily promote the industrialization of autonomous driving technology.

The fourth is to better serve the international development of enterprises. Actively respond to trade barriers such as anti subsidy investigations and high tariffs, provide more support and convenience for automobile companies to go global in investment, management, and other aspects, strengthen standard connectivity and rule docking in areas such as autonomous driving and carbon accounting, and create a favorable development environment.
