According to the West African Economic Portal on November 29th, Italy's ENI Group signed a development agreement with Ivory Coast's Ministry of Energy and Mines on November 28th for four offshore oil and gas field blocks. Four blocks totaling 5,720 square kilometers, with water depths ranging from 1,000 to 3,500 meters, and a development right period of 9 years. ENI has developed 6 deep-sea blocks since 2015, with a current daily production of approximately 22,000 barrels. In 2021, the "Whale" large-scale oil and gas field was discovered, with an estimated content of 2.5 billion barrels of crude oil and 3.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. After the second phase of the project is launched, the daily production can reach 60,000 barrels of crude oil and 7,000 cubic feet of natural gas. According to Vice President Kone, the mining industry has attracted over 15.24 billion euros in investment in the past decade.
