SunSirs: USDA: Global Cotton Production, Consumption and Ending Inventory in 2024/25 Increased Month-on-month
December 11 2024 13:37:51()

According to the USDA's global supply and demand forecast in December, global cotton production, consumption and ending inventory in 2024/25 increased month-on-month, beginning inventory decreased, and trade volume increased slightly.

Global cotton production increased by 1.2 million bales to 117.4 million bales, mainly due to an increase of 1 million bales in India, as well as an increase in production in Argentina, Benin and Brazil, and a decrease in production in Mali and Burkina Faso.

Global consumption increased by 570,000 bales month-on-month, with increases in India, Pakistan and Vietnam exceeding the decrease in China's consumption.

Global exports increased by 80,000 bales, with increases in exports from Brazil, Benin, Cameroon and Senegal exceeding decreases in Burkina Faso and Mali.

Global ending inventory increased by 267,000 bales month-on-month, with increases in Argentina, the United States and Pakistan exceeding decreases in Brazil.

Global beginning stocks decreased by 48,000 bales month-on-month, mainly due to an increase of 500,000 bales in India's consumption last year, which led to a decrease of 500,000 bales in beginning stocks this year.
