According to a report from Thailand on December 17th, the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) revealed that due to continuous heavy rain in the southern region, rubber production is expected to decrease by more than 140,000 tons in December. The affected rubber planting areas cover 11 provinces with an area of over 5.5 million rai.
Mr. Suta, acting director of the Rubber Authority of Thailand, said that the continuous rainstorm in the southern region led to floods and waterlogging in many regions, covering 11 provinces, including Chunpeng, Ranong, Surat Thani, Kami, Dongli, Luokun, Taogong, Beidanian, Bothalun, Jairah and Songka. RAOT analyzed and estimated the data of rubber planting area affected by the continuous rainstorm, and the affected area reached 5,592,621 lai, with a yield reduction of more than 142,963.23 tons, accounting for 24.75% of this month's output.
At present, there are still floods waiting to be discharged in some areas, which may cause a shortage of rubber in the short term.
