The supply of 2-EH was sufficient, but the demand was average, resulting in oversupply and fluctuating prices of 2-EH.

Adequate supply of 2-EH this week

This week, 2-EH enterprises started production at a high level and remained stable. In addition, new production capacity of 2-EH was gradually put into operation in December, resulting in a significant increase in 2-EH supply in December. The downstream demand increment was not as significant as the increment of 2-EH, and there was an oversupply of 2-EH, which increased the downward pressure on 2-EH and causes its price to fluctuate and fall.

The price of 2-EH had fluctuated and fallen, the cost of plasticizers had decreased, the profit margin of plasticizer DOP was high, and the enthusiasm of plasticizer enterprises to start production was high. The operating rate of downstream plasticizer enterprises was high, and plasticizers had certain positive support for the demand for 2-EH. However, downstream inventory replenishment at low prices had limited support for the demand for 2-EH.

Market outlook

According to the data analyst of SunSirs's octanol product, this week's high equipment start-up of 2-EH enterprises, coupled with the production of new capacity, had led to an oversupply of 2-EH and increased downward pressure on 2-EH; This week, downstream plasticizer manufacturers had seen an increase in production, but many of them were restocking at low prices, resulting in average demand for 2-EH and limited support for its upward trend.
