The market price of ECH has slightly increased this week. As of January 15th, the benchmark price of ECH in SunSirs was 8,975.00 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.41% compared to the beginning of this month.

Price influencing factors:

On the raw material side, the prices of propylene and liquid chlorine have fluctuated this week, supported by high glycerol prices. Overall, there was still pressure on the cost side. According to the market analysis system of SunSirs, as of January 14th, the benchmark price of propylene in SunSirs was 7,118.25 RMB/ton, an increase of 4.13% compared to the beginning of this month (6,835.75 RMB/ton).

Supply side: The overall operating rate of the ECH industry this week was about 50%. The load of Guangxi Jinze glycerol plant was about 70-80%. The load of Xinyue propylene process unit was about 50%, and the glycerol ECH process unit was shut down. Jiangsu Ruiheng's hydrogen peroxide direct oxidation process unit has been shut down.

Downstream demand side: The downstream epoxy resin market was narrowly adjusted. As the Spring Festival approaching, market demand has decreased and prices have remained relatively stable. The atmosphere of new order transactions was cold.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that as the Spring Festival approaching, downstream demand has decreased, but cost support still existed. In addition, some supply side enterprises had a low operating rate of about 50% overall, and low-priced sources in the market were gradually decreasing. Traders' quotes were firm, and it is expected that the market price of ECH will remain stable next week. More attention still needs to be paid to changes in market supply and demand.
