According to data from Business Society, seamless tube prices have slightly increased this week. As of the weekend, the price of 20# and 108 * 4.5 seamless tubes was quoted at 4,195 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.12% from the beginning of the week and a year-on-year decrease of 9.4%.

Analysis review

This week, the price of raw material billets has slightly increased, and as of January 17th, the factory quotation for 20 # hot-rolled billets was 3,440-3,500 RMB/ton.

As the Spring Festival approaching, most of the tube factories have stopped production and increased maintenance, and the supply was at a low level. The production of seamless tubes was limited to a certain extent, and the market supply pressure was relatively small. The liquidity of spot resources in the seamless tube market is relatively slow, and manufacturers had a strong willingness to reduce inventory. Most steel traders were increasing their profit margins to promote shipments, while downstream replenishment was still carried out through fast in and fast out operations. As of January 17th, steel traders held inventory at a medium high level, and there was still pressure to ship. The atmosphere of cautious observation in the seamless tube market still existed.
