Price trend
According to data from SunSirs, seamless tube prices have slightly increased this week. As of the weekend, the price of 20 #, 108 * 4.5 seamless tubes was quoted at 4,212.5 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.12% from the beginning of the week and a year-on-year decrease of 12.15%.
Analysis review
This week, the price of raw material billets has significantly decreased, with sporadic small drops of 20 RMB/ton. The factory price for 20 # hot-rolled billets was between 3,400 to 3,460 RMB/ton.
Downstream customers were cautious in their procurement, and overall demand has not yet been fully released. However, with the arrival of March and the combination of traditional peak season and macro policy expectations, the convening of the Two Sessions has also brought some confidence, especially the production restrictions in Tangshan, which will result in a low level of resource release and provide certain support for the seamless tube market. If downstream industries such as infrastructure construction and manufacturing can continue to recover, the demand for seamless tubes will increase significantly, and market prices are expected to stabilize and rebound. However, the decline in raw material billet prices has reduced production costs and also resulted in a lack of strong cost support for market prices.
Market outlook
It is expected that seamless tube prices will mainly experience a narrow adjustment in the short term.
