SunSirs: China SBR Market has slightly Weakened
March 27 2025 14:24:34SunSirs(Selena)

Recently (3.18-3.26), the market for SBR has slightly weakened. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of March 26th, the price of SBR in the East China market was 14,016 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.36% from 14,066 RMB/ton on March 18th. The price of raw material butadiene is stable, while the price of styrene is decreasing, resulting in weak cost support for SBR. The downstream tire production is basically stable; The production of SBR has fluctuated slightly, and supply pressure still exists. Recently, the supply price of SBR has slightly increased, but the overall market volatility is not significant. As of March 26th, the mainstream market price of 1502 SBR in Fushun, Jihua, Yangzi, Qilu, Weitai, and Yibang in East China is around 13,950-14,250 RMB/ton.

Recently (3.18-3.26), the price of raw material butadiene has remained stable, while the price of styrene has decreased, resulting in weak cost support for SBR. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of March 26th, the price of butadiene remained stable at 11,037 RMB/ton; As of March 26th, the price of styrene was 8,294 RMB/ton, a decrease of 1.10% from 8,386 RMB/ton on March 18th.

Supply and demand side: Downstream tire production is basically stable, mainly supporting the rigid demand of the SBR market. As of March 21st, the operating load of semi steel tires in domestic tire enterprises is around 83%; The construction of all steel tires by tire enterprises in Shandong region has slightly increased to around 69% of the load.

From a fundamental perspective, analysts from SunSirs believe that the current cost support for SBR is relatively weak; Small fluctuations in the production of SBR; The downstream tire production is basically stable, providing strong support for SBR. Overall, due to the impact of costs and supply and demand, it is expected that the short-term market for SBR will mainly experience a narrow consolidation.
