SunSirs: Bromine Prices Continued to Decline (April 21-27)
April 28 2025 14:56:03SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of bromine plummeted sharply last week. The average market price at the beginning of the week was 35,800 RMB/ton, and the average market price over the weekend was 22,200 RMB/ton, a decrease of 37.99% and an increase of 13.27% compared to the same period last year.

On April 26th, the SunSirs' Bromine Index was 84.21 points, a decrease of 1.4 points from the previous day, a decrease of 65.65% from the cycle's highest point of 245.18 points (2021-10-27), and an increase of 42.92% from the lowest point of 58.92 points on October 29, 2014. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to present)

Analysis review

Last week, the price of bromine was weak, and the reference price for bromine spot production in Shandong was 22,000-24,000 RMB/ton. Bromine enterprises had high inventory levels due to the increase in market supply caused by the warming weather. In addition, China's dependence on bromine imports was relatively high, and it was approaching normalcy. In the early stage, the price of bromine rose, but downstream consumers resisted. Downstream consumers tended to purchase according to demand, and it is expected that bromine prices will be weak in the later stage.

In terms of raw materials, domestic sulfur prices had been running weakly, with an average market price of 2,137.67 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 2,244.33 RMB/ton over the weekend. The price had increased by 3.54%, which was 84.46% higher than the same period last year. Downstream demand was generally average.

Market outlook

Bromine prices have been weak in recent times, with upstream sulfur prices consolidating and bromine prices plummeting this week. Downstream purchases were mostly made on demand. Bromine companies had high inventory and downstream resistance. It is expected that bromine may continue to be weaker in the later period, depending on downstream market demand.
