September 04 2020 14:26:17SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to data from SunSirs’ bulk list, the price of aniline rose slightly in August. On August 1, the price of aniline in Shandong was 4,200-4,300 RMB/ton, and the price of aniline in Nanjing was 4,300-4,400 RMB/ton; on August 31, the price of aniline in Shandong was 4,250-4,430 RMB/ton, and the price of aniline in Nanjing was 4,500-4,600 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.16% this month.

Analysis review

In terms of raw materials, the pure benzene market continued its upward trend in early August and continued to rise at the end of July. Beginning in the middle of the month, downstream equipment maintenance increased, and the willingness to lower prices was obvious. The price of pure benzene in North China dropped significantly. Port inventory rose by about 15,000 tons this month, and port inventory dragged down market prices. The listing price of pure benzene on August 1st was 3,230-3,400 RMB/ton (average price of 3,370 RMB/ton), and the listing price on August 31 was 3,020-3,450 RMB/ton (average price of 3,390 RMB/ton), the average price rose by 20 RMB/ton compared to August 1st, an increase of 0.59% this month.

The nitric acid price stepped down this month. On August 1, the price of nitric acid in East China was 1,533.33 RMB/ton, and on the 31st, the price was 1,500 RMB/ton, a decrease of 33.33 RMB/ton or 2.17% from the beginning of the month.

The price increase of aniline this month was concentrated in the first half of the month and began to stabilize in the middle. In the first half of the month, Huatai was overhauled, and the market supply decreased. In addition, the number of orders executed by East China companies decreased and the price rose slightly. In the second half of the month, the price continued to rise in East China due to tight supply. In Shandong area, Huatai expects to restart, and the company keeps prices on the sidelines.

Market outlook

In terms of raw materials, entering September, the downstream operating rate is expected to increase, the pressure on the port's pure benzene inventory may be relieved, and the later price is expected to break through.

Huatai's aniline plant restarted and supply is expected to increase. Entering the "Golden September and Silver October", focusing on the recovery of downstream demand, aniline is expected to strengthen.
