As of March 26, the average price of dichloromethane in Shandong was around 3,630 RMB/ton, which was down by 0.73% compared with 3,656 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and up 1.11% from Wednesday's lowest point of 3,590 RMB/ton; the average price of chloroform was around 3,750 RMB/ton, compared with 3,983 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week, it was down by 5.86%, and which was an increase of 1.35% from Wednesday's lowest point of 3,700 RMB/ton.

Analysis review

This week, there was not much pressure on methane chloride spot inventory in Shandong, some enterprises were shutting down, Dongyue Chemical's construction load was not high, and Luxi Chemical started near 90%, and the overall market supply was still moderately tight. In addition, the downstream purchases slightly increased after the price of methane chloride fell compared with the previous period, the demand side recovered.

Cost surface long and short intertwined. The support for liquid chlorine was strong, and the support for methanol was weak. The price of liquid chlorine rose this week. The mainstream ex-factory price of liquid chlorine by tank trucks in Shandong was 1,850~2,000 RMB/ton. However, this week, international crude oil fluctuated up and down at 60 US dollars, and the overall situation was weak. As of the 25th, the WTI May contract closed at 58.34 US dollars per barrel, which was bearish for domestic chemicals. The price of methanol was also at a low level. According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of methanol was 2,330 RMB/ton as of March 26.

Market outlook

Methane chloride data analysts believe that the current inventory pressure of methane chloride producers in Shandong is not great, coupled with the slight recovery of downstream purchases and the rise of liquid chlorine, , it is expected that the price of methane chloride is likely to rise in the later period.
