SunSirs: China Glass and Cement Rose sharply, Building Materials Index Hit a New Ten-year High
April 22 2021 11:14:25SunSirs(Selena)

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, since 2011, the building materials index has been diving for seven consecutive years. In 2018, it began to rebound. After two years of sharp rise, it fell again. In 2021, the building materials index hit the bottom and rebounded, reaching a new high in ten years. After the Spring Festival, the price of cement, glass, paper and wood pulp rose in turn, and the building materials index continued to rise sharply for two months. On April 19, the building materials index rose to 1,304 points, or more than 14%.

After the Spring Festival, the terminal glass processing enterprises resumed operation, raw materials rose one after another, and the glass market continued to rise for three months, with an increase of nearly 19%. The supply of wood pulp was tight, and the price of terminal household paper increased, with an increase of nearly 8%. The glass and wood pulp products rose sharply, and the building materials index ushered in the first wave of rising market, with the index rising 92 points, or more than 8%. In March, the market of fiberglass and wood pulp products rebounded, cement weakened and building materials index weakened.

Since late March, the construction industry started intensive construction, the rigid demand increased, the cement began to rebound from the bottom, and kept rising for more than a month. As of April 19, the growth rate was more than 5%. Supported by the sharp rise of raw materials, fiberglass and wood pulp also ushered in the rising trend again. The building materials index ushered in the second wave of rising trend, with the index rising 72 points, or more than 5%.

SunSirs building materials analyst believes that the building materials industry has entered the peak consumption season, the prosperity of the industry has increased, the rigid demand for glass cement and other products has increased, the supply of wood pulp has become tight, and the paper market is low. It is expected that the building materials index will still reach a new high in the future in China.
