SunSirs: Sodium Metabisulfite Prices Rose Again This Week (May 24-28)
May 31 2021 14:31:31SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the domestic sodium metabisulfite price rose again this week. The average weekly price of industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite was 1,800.00 RMB/ton and the average weekend price was 1,866.67 RMB/ton, an increase of 3.70%.

Analysis review

The overall market performance of the sodium metabisulfite market this week was acceptable. The market price of industrial grade sodium metabisulfite was in the range of 1,800-2,050 RMB/ton, and most prices are concentrated around 1,850 RMB/ton.

Potassium chloride has also risen. Domestic spot and port arrivals have been adjusted up at the same time. There is some tight supply in terms of supply. It is expected that the potassium chloride market may consolidate at a high level. The stable production of enterprises and the decline in inventories caused the overall supply of sodium metabisulfite in the domestic market to be tight. This week, some enterprises slightly raised their ex-factory prices, which drove the domestic sodium metabisulfite market prices to rise again.

Since the beginning of May, the domestic soda ash price fell slightly by 0.11%, and the sulfur price rose sharply by 5.16%. The cost of raw materials continues to be high and the overall trend was increasing. The cost would further support the market price of sodium metabisulfite in the future.

Market outlook

SunSirs analysts believe that the cost continues to be high, the market supply is tight, and the downstream rigid demand remains unabated. It is expected that the domestic sodium metabisulfite market price will continue to run firmly in the short term.
