SunSirs: TDI Market Trend Was Finishing Up This Week (June 21-27)
June 29 2021 14:29:55SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to data from SunSirs’ bulk list, the TDI market price trend continued to rise this week. The average market price in East China at the weekend was 13,866.67 RMB/ton, which was an increase of 2.72% compared with 13,500.00 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and a decrease of 0.48% from the beginning of the month.

Analysis review

This week, the domestic TDI market was adjusted within a range, and the holders were cautious in making offers and maintaining negotiations on shipments. During the week, due to the impact of Shanghai's road transportation control, and then the news of the unexpected shutdown of the Shanghai BASF installation, the overall market offer rose slightly. However, due to the off-season of downstream terminals and the restart of the Shanghai BASF installation, the support was insufficient, and the TDI market remained Stable, with little fluctuations during the week. Distributors in East China have a wait-and-see attitude. The quotations were higher than the market outbound transaction prices. The quotations of various manufacturers were high and low. After the price adjustment within the week, the quotations remained stable.

The price of toluene was lowered this week. The domestic average price was 5781 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.34% during the week. The downstream follow-up of toluene was general, the demand was weak, some downstream equipment was overhauled, and there was a lack of effective guidance in the market. The spot supply in the toluene market was sufficient, the downstream demand was insufficient to follow up, the industry had a negative attitude, and the toluene market was weak.

Market outlook

According to the analysis of the TDI data analyst of SunSirs, although the TDI market in East China was sorted up this week, corporate quotations rose slightly, but there was no continuous positive support, the atmosphere continued to be weak, the transaction volume was small, in addition the downstream terminals were in the off-season, the enthusiasm for inquiries was average, and there were some downstream low-price enquiries, the actual transaction was still low. It is expected that the TDI market will operate steadily and wait-and-see in the short term, and pay attention to the supply-side news guidance.
