As of December 31, the average price of maleic anhydride remained at 12,166.67 RMB/ton, a decrease of 15.12% from the average price of 14,333.33 RMB/ton on December 27, and it fell 1.88% month-on-month.

On December 31, the maleic anhydride commodity index was 114.61, a decrease of 3.14 points from previous day, a decrease of 31.14% from the cycle highest point of 166.43 points (2021-12-15), and an increase of 123.94% from the lowest point of 51.18 points on April 14, 2020. On the upstream side, the pure benzene market rose this week. The average price of pure benzene on December 31 was 7,230.00 RMB/ton, and the average price on December 27 was 6,830.00 RMB/ton, an increase of 5.86%. The market price of hydrogenated benzene in North China increased sharply this week. It was 6,975.00 RMB/ton on December 31 and 6,512.50 RMB/ton on December 27, an increase of 7.10%. For n-butane, as of December 31, the price in Shandong was 5,260.00 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

According to the analysts of maleic anhydride products of SunSirs, the domestic maleic anhydride market price dropped sharply this week, factory shipments were active, downstream resin operating rate declined, rigid demand slowed down, and the wait-and-see sentiment was strong. On Friday, domestic maleic anhydride stopped falling and wait-and-see, trading slowed down, and some shipments from factories were tight. It is expected that the maleic anhydride market after the holiday may be mainly consolidated.
