April 18 2022 09:25:22SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of coking coal was on the strong side this week. The average market price at the beginning of the week was about 2,955 RMB/ton, and the average market price at the weekend was 3,141.67 RMB/ton, a price increase of 6.32%, and a price increase of 110.85% over the same period last year.

On April 14, the energy index was 1,207 points, up 1 point from previous day, down 22.68% from the highest point in the cycle (1,561 points on 2021-10-21), and up 136.20% points from the lowest point of 511 points on March 01, 2016. (Note: The cycle refers to 2011-12-01 to the present)

Analysis review

In terms of production area, due to the impact of public health events, transportation had been affected, and the coking coal had accumulated on the site, but the downstream demand was still strong; the downstream coke was mainly operated stably, and some coke enterprises had the phenomenon of tight supply of raw materials. Therefore, some enterprises were forced to reduce their load, and it was expected that the supply would be tight in the future.

Market outlook

According to the coking coal analyst of SunSirs comprehensively, coking coal is supported by coke, and there is still a demand for replenishment in the later stage. The price may be mainly based on good performance, depending on the downstream market demand.
