Before the May Day, the domestic propylene price was around 8,400 yuan/ton, and the price was sluggish due to the impact of terminal demand. During the May 1st period, the international crude oil continued to rise due to the influence of geopolitics, which drove the price of downstream basic chemicals to rise. Under the cost transmission, most commodities ushered in a wave of price hikes after the holiday, and propylene rose by 400 yuan/ton as a whole. As of May 8, the mainstream quotation of propylene (Shandong) was around 8,800 yuan/ton, an increase of 4.59% from the beginning of the month. After the holiday, the market returned to normal, and the downstream was cautious, purchasing on demand, and propylene companies pushed up slightly to test the level of downstream acceptance.

Market outlook

The current price of propylene is relatively high, and it is expected that the pressure for further rise will be relatively large. In the short term, the market will mainly consolidate within a narrow range.
