May 16 2022 16:00:52SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of coking coal fell this week. The average market price at the beginning of the week was about 3,255 RMB/ton, and the average market price at the weekend was 3,171.67 RMB/ton, down 2.56% and up 98.64% over the same period last year.

The energy index on May 12 was 1,213 points, down 10 points from previous day, down 22.29% from the highest point in the cycle (1,561 points on 2021-10-21), and up 137.38% from the lowest point of 511 points on March 01, 2016. (Note: The cycle refers to 2011-12-01 to the present)

Analysis review

In terms of origin, coal mines mostly maintained normal production, but the downstream had a strong wait-and-see mood, the enthusiasm for purchasing decreased, and new orders from coal mines had decreased. In terms of downstream coke, the second round of promotion and reduction had been fully implemented, and the profit had been tightened, and the market was mainly operating on the sidelines.

Market outlook

According to the coking coal analyst of SunSirs, the second round of coke has been fully implemented, and the cumulative price has been reduced by 400 RMB/ton. Coking enterprises have been operating normally recently, enterprises are actively shipping, the coke inventory in the plant is relatively normal, and the price of raw coking coal is weakening. At present, the mentality of coking enterprises is weak, and the demand for coking coal is weakening. It is expected that the price of coking coal will be mainly consolidated in the later period, depending on the downstream market demand.
