SunSirs: Dichloromethane Market Continued to Weaken (June 10-17)
June 20 2022 15:44:35SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, the dichloromethane market continued to weaken this week (6.10-6.17). As of June 17, the average price of dichloromethane bulk water in Shandong was 3,447 RMB/ton, compared with the price of 3,562 RMB/ton on the 10th, fell 3.23%.

Analysis review

Although the methane chloride plant of Luxi Chemical Co., Ltd. has been operating at a reduced load in the early stage, the domestic methane chloride plant was still operating at a high level, and the supply was still under great pressure. The downstream market demand was stable and weak.

This week (6.10-6.17) the spot price of methanol rose slightly, and the cost support was strengthened. However, the methanol futures price fell from a high level, which had a negative impact on the market mentality. According to the understanding of SunSirs, as of June 17, the spot price of methanol was 2,715 RMB/ton, an increase of 2.16% from the price of 2,657 RMB/ton on the 10th. As of June 17, the closing price of the main methanol futures contract was 2,756 RMB/ton, down 5.32% from last Friday's closing price of 2,911 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

The methane chloride data analyst of SunSirs believes that the Jinling unit began to operate at a reduced load over the weekend. In addition, due to the sudden accident of Shanghai Petrochemical, the market expects that domestic methane chloride enterprises may have maintenance or reduction plans. It is expected that the pressure on the domestic supply side may ease in the later period, and there may be a slight upward opportunity for dichloromethane in the later period.
