SunSirs: The Price of Sodium Metabisulfite Fell Weakly in July
August 01 2022 10:08:04SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the domestic price of sodium metabisulfite continued to decline in July. The average price of industrial-grade sodium metabisulfite on July 1 was 3,350.00 RMB/ton, and the average price on July 29 was 3,033.33 RMB/ton, an overall decrease of 9.45% in the month.

Analysis review

Affected by the continuous decline of upstream raw material prices, some manufacturers slightly lowered the ex-factory price of sodium metabisulfite in July, which drove the domestic market price of sodium metabisulfite to rise first and then fall as a whole. With the further decline of upstream raw material prices, downstream trade entities had a strong wait-and-see attitude, and the increase of new orders of manufacturers was limited. In order to ensure shipments, manufacturers had successively lowered their ex-factory prices again, driving the domestic market price of sodium metabisulfite to continue to decline weakly in July.

In July, the domestic price of soda ash fell slightly, down 3.42% within the month, the domestic sulfur price plummeted 73.91%, the upstream raw material price fell sharply, and under the pressure of cost transmission, the domestic sodium metabisulfite market price will be under pressure in the future.

Market outlook

Analysts from SunSirs believe that raw material costs continue to decline, downstream purchases are more cautious, and under the dual suppression of cost and demand, it is expected that the domestic sodium metabisulfite market price in August will still have some room to fall.
